Man, if the "save $300" was still active, I'd jump on it. The lens would be a nice addition to my kit. I would sell off the 14-42 (as I have the 14-45 which is superior) and the G5 body.

I could not get the discount to be applied at all. I bought it for full price ($~770) right before they changed the discount from $300 to $200 and got them to apply the $300 discount =)

Why try and screw amazon? The deal was to purchase both items to get $300 off not buy one and then be selfish and cancel the other. It would be even better if you cancel and they reneg on the deal and you pay full price on the camera...that would serve you right

Wow, way to get all high and mighty. How dare I consider different DEAL options. What I'm talking about isn't "screwing" anybody. If you look, Amazon didn't give $300 off the camera, they gave a prorated discount of $175 off the camera. Now, when the lens ships, it'll be at a prorated discount price of about $175+tax. That's a pretty good price for the lens. You could argue that I'm doing Amazon a favor by saving them from selling the lens at such a discounted price, so relax.

What I'm debating is if it's worth the effort resell the lens for a small profit, vs saving Amazon and myself the time & shipping & effort by cancelling the lens part of the order. Or, I could just keep it. Anyone know if this lens is that much better than the deal posted here: http://slickdeals.net/f/5852096-O...dorama-com

the panasonic has IS in lens while Oly has it in body. if you got pana body with Oly len, you won't have IS

Yes, understood. That's definitely one of the things I'm debating. I've read some reviews of people who have used the Oly lens on a Panny body, and the lack of IS didn't bother them. I thought I'd see if anyone else has used this type of setup and has feeback?

For ~$100 difference in price, I'm not sure it's worth it, just for IS. Anyone know if the Panny lens is sharper or better in other ways to make it worth the difference in price?

If Amazon chooses to still give a discount that isn't screwing Amazon, its their choice.
