That is correct. It rang up $487.50 before the $75. It was a brand new unit, sealed in box. I didn't plan on getting that at all, but I saw the sign that he brought out with the box. It has the model number on it and said -$40 instand rebate off already discounted clearance. Good luck to anyone trying to get the additional off.

So this coupon is good for any laptop. I just may have to pick up a laptop before 2/14. I think Staples has no restocking fee if I don't open the box. So if this model is out of stock, is this still a pretty good deal?

I downloaded the free "Windows 8 or Dummies". I put it in quotations because it is NOT the full book. It is a ~20 page Toshiba Special Edition. You can get the same info from the Toshiba manual. In my opinion, it is a waste of time and space. Furthermore, you have to put in your cc info to get the book!!!! I had to download an update for the book app and another Microsoft program just to be able to read it.

It looks like the newer version of this laptop. The only difference I see is 8 gig ram as opposed to 6, a larger hard drive and blue tooth.
For $575, it looks decent.

Anyone else have thoughts?

any 3rd gen i7 is way good for a basic user, but if you are worried about battery life.. do not get this model, but if it does not bother you then get it. That is just my opinion, you don't have to listen to me.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the contributors of this forum/site. Just picked up the L855-S5372 for $419.74. I called all over Denver. Everywhere was sold out, I asked every store if they would sell the display model. Three people told me "no", 1 because the floor model was the one they do their Windows8 training on, and the others because it is not a discontinued item. The 1 who said they could sell the display said they would give me 5% off. I said, I thought it was Staples policy to give 10% off display models, she got the manager. He said, it is at their discretion, but he would look at it and if it had any scratches he would knock 10% off, putting it below their cost. He came back and said there are a couple little scratches, 10% off. I said I'd take it. $527.50-$52.75(10%)-$75(coupon)+$19.99(tax)=$419.74 out the door. Couple little scratches, who gives a shit?

By the way, one of the stores said they are getting more in on Friday.

How is the quality of Toshiba laptops? Any overheating issues? my Toshiba R835 series gets hot as 100 degree C when I mulittask and it is a design problem. Buyers beaware

Good info I may pick one up. What makes this laptop better than one you can get for under $300 I know nothing about laptops?
