I purchased this monitor direct from dell on 2/28 for 209+tax (no coupon). I had decided on this one and watched the price closely including checking dell.com every day. This is what I documented from dell.com: 2/20: $249 2/21: $199 (waited too long to pull the trigger) 2/22: $299 2/23-2/27: $249 2/28: $209 2/29: $224 Currently the price at dell.com is $250 and I don't know if it has still been going up and down, but you might get a better price if you keep a close eye on it. However, during the week I watched the other Ultra Sharp models did not change price much at all. So far I am very happy with the monitor. I have it connected to my work laptop via DVI and my Macbook Pro via Display Port. One note is that the MacBook won't send an RGB signal via Display Port. Instead you get YCbCr. This appears to be the same issue people are having with the u2713hm. You can read more about the issue and a fix for the u2713hm here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showt...?t=1481582 So far it looks fine to me, but I may try a similar fix at some point. A couple more things. The screen is not glossy which I like. Some people have complained that the coating is distracting, but it looks good to me for both office work (programming) and game play(TF2, Portal 2). Along with the e-IPS panel the other feature that made it worth some extra cash is the stand. It adjusts for height, swivel, and tilt, and is so easy that you won't hesitate to make a quick change. |

I paid $229 for this monitor back in December 2011. It's as close to a professional monitor as most people will ever need. I have no problem preparing microstock photography on this monitor despite many of my competitors throwing huge wads of cash on Eizo professional monitors. Remember though that it's a 23 inch, and the 24 inch version gives some extra height that many people would prefer, it didn't matter to me though. I'd say this is a pretty good deal.

Any of you have any opinions of this monitor vs

Price is actually stated as 289 with a strikethrough. Easy way to find out is highlight it and right click on Chrome and it'll ask if you want to search for 289. Other way is copy and paste. Hence the save $70 message in red. Tempted on buying this as my wife wants a new monitor from her some odd year old Acer monitor. This would be a big step up even though it's 23" instead of 24" |
