1. My main complaint about the S200E was the wobbling screen when touched. 2. I was merely explaining what I was was looking for (Hybrid) vs. what the S200E offered. IMHO this is a great deal for a budget friendly touchscreen everyday laptop. |

This is from the review posted on post #40: Touchpad The touchpad, which measures 6 x 10.5 centimeters (2.36 x 4.13 inches), doesn't just look like the one Asus equips the premium Zenbook UX51VZ with - it also features the same outstanding usability. The low friction, velvety surface allows the fingers to glide smoothly and with above-average precision. Multi-touch gestures, like pinch-zoom or scrolling with two fingers, work without a hitch. Instead of dedicated mouse buttons, the touchpad registers clicks in the lower corners of the surface area ("Clickpad"). The touchpad receives high marks due to its firm response and almost flawless execution. |

Very Tempting....
I have an HP tx2500 that I was going to upgrade with Windows 8 but this may be reasonable for a good Windows 8 touch screen. I bought the Lenovo Twist a couple months ago but returned whe I found out you couldn't upgrade the memory or replace the battery (easily) at close to $750 the twist was not worth it. This at $425 + tax is another story...... How does the S200E screen compare to the screen on the Twist, from a veiwing quality stand point not converitble. Also, the twist has something like a 10 point multi touch, does this also? Anyone want to talk me into this insted of upgrading the tx2500 (I know the tx2500 it's not multi touch)? It was in the latest circular I got in the mail a couple of days ago that I don't have anymore. It may be in-store only since MC does this often. |

I've never seen the Twist screen so I can't comment on it. But I do have the S200e and I will say it's the one place that Asus really tried to cut down on costs. The viewing angle has a pretty narrow window before colors start washing out. And color reproduction is subpar I think. Honestly it's the one thing that has me thinking about selling it. I think I'll use it for a few more weeks and see if I can live with it. The problem is I have a 3 year old Lenovo U450p that I go back and forth to and that old laptop has a much nicer screen, surprisingly. |

I got this when it was the $399 price. I like it. It runs nice and fast, USB ports are a bit tight, but overall I like it. I get about 3-4 hours of use before the battery craps out, kind of sucks, but the plug is small enough to carry along and plug it in if I need to. I have to wonder if the HDD can be replaced, can I also jimmy-rig a new battery in there in a few years. Not too worried about it.
Initially I thought using a touchscreen on my laptop would be weird, but I like it a lot. Windows 8 is hard to imagine without a touch screen. In fact, getting this confirmed my decision NOT to upgrade my desktops to 8 before it went off sale at the end of Jan. This is the first laptop I've ever bought for me and so far I am quite happy with it. |

Thanks for the responce..... I went to pick one up and compared the screen with the Twist screen which must be IPS and so is the MS Surface. In comparison the IPS is much more crisp. Granted both the other tablets were about twice the price of this, but I'll hold on to using the tx2500 a little longer untill I find a deal on something with like the MS Surface. |
