The Panny G5 is way above this camera. In fact, the G5 is only below the GH2/3 and the Oly OM-D in the m43 world in terms of features and performance. It has a built-in EVF, and a 920K dot LCD screen, with a new 16 MP sensor. Even the GX1 does not have a built-in EVF.

It is quite comparable to the NEX6, which is a lot more expensive. If you think that 45-150mm is worth $200, they are giving you the G5 kit for only $300! I have a G3 kit, but unfortunately the resale value of that just dropped another 20 or 30%. It is hard to sell the G3 now.

You can't really compare m43 sensors to those found on compact zooms like the FZ200.

how does it compare to LX7 ?

great p&s and you cannot beat f2.8 all to 600mm. this camera is awesome at the zoo.

want this for the high speed frame rate. gonna use it for some swing analysis... thanks again!

AWESOME price for this camera! It recently got down to $466 thru an Amazon 3rd party seller and I almost jumped on it, but was afraid it was a gray market camera. At $419 thru J&R this is a no-brainer!

I have last years model (LUMIX DMC-FZ150) and love it, but I wanted the f2.8 on the telephoto end which is the big improvement on this FZ200.

The D3100 is a great camera but is a DSLR. This Panasonic falls in between a point-and-shoot and a DSLR.

I do agree with you in one thing and that's that I almost always rely on negative reviews to get an idea of how a product will function. Positive reviews for me are promotional and can be ignored. If the criticisms aren't so bad, I'll consider. Call me paranoid, but my approach works.

this is good bridge / zoom camera if you can keep ISO below 400, you'll need good light for this tiny sensor to deliver.
Another thing is that F2.8 sounds good, but not easy to work with and many reported that F4 delivers sharper images vs F2.8
this is great camera for anyone who knows exactly how to use it, otherwise SX50 - IMHO.
