my daughter is the same way with headphones. I dont want to spend too much because every one of them stops working after a couple of months at most. What usually happens in one ear goes out. Anybody know if you can fix this.

Any recommendation between these and the Monoprice 8323? I just ordered the latter but may jump on these if the consensus are they're better.

I'm guessing the big cause is faulty wires but if a speaker is blown, it might not be worth re-wiring. Things that are built today are not engineered to be fixed.

These sound a bit hot when amplified. I didn't care for them at all myself --headache inducing.

Yea I guess if one ear goes out it's either due to low quality headphones or severe abuse.

Speaking as someone who has owned at least 20 pairs of headphones over the course of his life, most speakers under $50 are just built like crap. Even if you take care of most cheaper headphones, the cables wear out quickly, especially if you use them often (like most teens do). It's not a matter of learning to take care of your stuff so much as it's normal wear and tear.

Now that I'm an adult with disposable income, I refuse to buy headphones that don't have an easily replaceable cable. The headphones are better quality (sound better) and, over time, they pay for themselves. But quality, maintainable hardware definitely comes at a price.

If they're active, there's not too much parents can do about it. Kids who play outside break things. I for one would rather have my kids breaking things outside than sitting on their asses inside.

I truly wish there was a set of IEMs as comfortable as Klipsch X10s which were saline resistant and easily survivable. I'm convinced it's not going to happen anytime soon unless I plop down for custom molded IEMs from Logitech. I'll eventually do that, but not until these X10s are complete toast.
