Dang - almost in, but from reviews, it sounds like they "leak" sound a lot, and I'd be using these in the office. Pretty good deal though - $40 on Amazon.

Thanks. My son goes through pairs of headphones like water. Quote from ramfan13 : my daughter is the same way with headphones. I dont want to spend too much because every one of them stops working after a couple of months at most. What usually happens in one ear goes out. Anybody know if you can fix this. Sounds like you two should try making them work for their possessions... Maybe they'll appreciate and learn the value of them. Not teaching you how to be parents, but if I was your kid, I'd take care of my them! My thoughts exactly. How can I person go through headphones like water when you take care them? I have a few sets of Sennheisers and one of them is 13yrs old and works fine. But then it's HD600's and it comes with its own case. But still. Decent sets like these should last years at least. |

It seems y'all are assuming that kids being rough on stuff is a direct result of neglect or abuse. Thing is, it's not. It's a result of a myriad of things from the development of gross motor skills to intellectual reality, and some of it's just kids being kids. In situations involving clear abuse and neglect, there's probably another issue that needs to be addressed which is causing a kid not to treat their belongings properly. It's probably wiser to deal with the root cause than to leave a child with the impression that possessions have an intrinsic value which supersedes the base cause of the problem. Parents can unknowingly teach their children materialism by enforcing a strict code of conduct in regards to physical stuff. Materialism caused in this way often leads to a deep seated fear that it is outwardly visible possessions that bestow love and value as opposed to behaviors and attitudes. At the end of the day, each child is his or her own person, as are their parents. I don't give out an allowance as I feel it sets a precedent I am uncomfortable with. We have enough money to have more stuff than we do, but I'm a bit of a minimalist insofar as most things are concerned, though I actively choose to encourage a lifetime love of music. There's nothing wrong with a parent replacing a few pairs of jeans and cans a year. Just like there's nothing intrinsically wrong with giving a child an allowance --it's a personal decision to which none of us knows enough about these parents' families to judge so immediately in such an unforgiving manner. |

FYI these have a very thin cable. The cable is like what you would get with a set of earbuds which just doesn't seem appropriate for a regular set of headphones. My cable was also short. Seems like around 4 feet but I didn't measure. Cable should have been 6ft to be usable for multiple applications. It won't reach from the back of my computer to my head in a sitting position. Disappointing.
