Chase Freedom credit card holders - 5% off gas - hints for extra savings

The point is some people don't have Amex right now. I am one of them. This still allows you to effectively use a non-Amex CCard to purchase stuff at Costco. IF you used a prepaid Visa, which you got 5% back in points because you bought it at a drugstore this quarter than you will get the 5%. Not to mention if you did go this route and had a big purchase at Costco coming up it's a quick way to liquidate them. Far quicker and easier than buying $1,500 worth of gas gift cards.

I don't want an Amex right now whatsoever because I'm waiting for the next good deal on an Amex and I already have a few cards. Don't need to tack another one on and run the risk of a decline because of too many cards/inquiries in total.

i usually hit my $1500 limit so i dont need to make extra purchases...

$5 fee on $500 ain't gonna kill you I'll take a 4% bonus ($20 earning on a $500 prepaid purchase) over a 5% bonus that requires me to sit on gas cards for 6 months which is what this thread started out as. Also, last time I did it for some reason they had these coupons that let you buy them for free. Not sure why they coincided that with the Freedom drugstore quarter but I was more than happy

PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa offers 5% on gas all the time with no limit. Anyone can join PenFed after meeting some simple requirements.

Do they have $500 VISA GC there? I usually see $25, $50, and $100 unless they have one without preset value.
