First quarter 2013 we have the 5% bonus cash back off of gas purchases with our card.
https://creditcards.chase.com/fre...ivate.aspx

You can prolong the 5% by walking inside the gas station, and if they offer their brand gas gift cards, buy them. It has been confirmed by Chase that you will get the 5% extra when purchasing a gift card inside the store.

You also get extra savings when using your gift card at the pumps or inside as they count as non-credit card transactions so you'd get the cash price on the gas per gallon.

I usually buy a good size $ gas gift card when the quarter is about over so I can continue to reap the rewards after the expiration of the extra bonus.

Just a reminder of what has always worked for me.

What I did to confirm is after purchasing my gift card, I'd call Chase customer service and they can confirm your % cash back with that particular transaction. There's never been an issue when it wasn't 5%.

Also if you have a BI-LO near you and use BI-LO Perks, this helps to use along with your BI-LO gas perks at the pump.
If you take advantage of an offer on our site, Slickdeals may receive a commission.

Remember that you only get 1500 per category per qt

It is not 1500 per category per quarter....It is 1500 per quarter spent across the respective categories. (edited on 03/30/2013)

Search for Costco Cash Card

Add $100 to cart, pay with Visa Credit Card (CCard)

Use Costco Cash Card instore

Voilia, around the way to use a Visa at Costco for those of you who don't have an Amex and don't mind carrying around a Costco cash card.
Oh, you meant to say that if you don't have an Amex. Well, first off, you SHOULD have an Amex. Amex is just great. Gives out money free every year.
I wanted to say that you still need to have Costco membership to buy cash card. I do this all the time. I carry Sams membership and have friends buy me cash card from costco. You can buy stuff from costco using cashcard, without membership.

yea, I do not find that very useful except when you are trying to spend $XXX/Y months to get a credit card bonus.

both phrases need to be consistent. you use "or" on first phrase and "and" on second.

You can't use Visa credit cards (Freedom) on either Sams or Costco. Discover and Amex respectively.
Sam's club does not take Visa inside the store, but almost all of their gas pumps accept Visa

Even I can get 5% cash back on gas this quarter, I found I am using Costo's gas station most often since their gas price is usually more than 2% cheaper than others in the area. I get 3% cash back with Costco AE on gas anyway, so I save more than 5% than using other brand. With a gas station GC, you are limited to use that particular brand of gas which may or may not be the best deal around.

The title is incorrect, it isn't 5% off on gas. It is 5% points on purchases made at gas stations and drug stores.

I don't know if you can buy AMEX giftcards at drugstores, but if you can...... 2% (usual cheaper gas price) + 5% chase freedom. bounce

That may be true but there is an activation fee involved. A $100 AE GC usually costs $105 or more. It will end up loosing money.

See FAQ at American Express:
Are there any fees associated with the Gift Card?
Depending on the type of Card, a one-time purchase fee ranging from $2.95 to $6.95 will apply, but there are no monthly service or maintenance fees.

FYI. The $100 AE GC is $105.64 at Walmart.com.

anybody try buying an amazon gift card at a drugstore (CVS, Walgreens)? did/would you get 5% back?
Any purchase you make at a drugstore would be counted as a drugstore purchase, so yes, you would get 5% back by buying Amazon gift cards (or any gift cards for that matter).

What is the point of doing that? You don't get 5% from the Visa card purchase, and you don't get the 3% cash back from Costco AE purchase on gas. The Costco AE card is free anyway. Confused

If you are in the mid-west, you can get Amazon GC at Meijer with 15% to 20% off almost every month.

Why bother with all this? Just buy 3 x $500 Paypal reload cards at drugstores, or 3 x Vanilla Reload cards at CVS to feed to Bluebird. Lot faster.

Good luck finding those that allow Vanilla with credit card. I don't have CVS in my state, but walgreens doesn't allow buying Vanilla without cash/debit.
