How can you even dare to compare ASUS with Lenovo? Kidding me? Yeah the ideapads are not what they used to be but to say or even compare asus with lenovo is ridiculous on most accounts. You may hear stories but as for your personal experience (which seems non-existent) I find it hard to believe anything you have to say to be of any value whatsoever. Through the years I have had several Dells, Hp's, Compaqs, and even asus's. None have performed as reliably as the the lenovo's I currently own. i can't eat breakfast unless i have crispy onions

If this had a higher resolution, it'd be a very cost-effective Windows alternative to the Macbook Pro Retina. It'd have been a premium product and I'd gladly pay $200 more for such a product.
But as is, this is junk. How could you mix such high-end parts with such a garbage display? It's really insulting that Lenovo thinks customers don't realize the importance of screen quality. |

Lenovo Customer services is horrible! I had a defective refurbished laptop I bought from them and I requested a refund. They agreed and they let me return it. That part was the easy part. However, when it comes to the refund part, they are very very slow and when I did get my refund, they've partially refunded me, when in fact it should have been a full refund based on their refund policy, I only had the laptop for a day and return it the next day. It took them over month to refund me most of my money and then I called them about the remaining refund payment. I explained to them they refunded me only a portion of what I paid them and I even sent them the billing information via Email as requested by them
I called a week later after sending them the pdf of the billing and they've said the payment will show up on my credit card in 3 to 5 business day. I check, no refund payment in my credit card. A week later I called again and they've said the payment to my credit will take another 3 to 5 business day. I check, no refund payment once again. So I called a week later and called again and they've, yes once again, said it will be another 3 to 5 business day. I check, no refund again. Then I called again and guess what, yes another 3 to 5 business day. That was last Wednesday, and still not refund correction. I'll think this time around I will have a talk with their supervisor. |
Agreed. At least the Macbook has proper color calibration from the factory that is usually good enough for making press ready artwork using the stock Apple monitor color profile in most instances. Maybe Lenovo was thinking that folks would have an awesome external monitor to connect to this? ![]()
Only the Thinkpad line seems to get top tier support. Anything else goes overseas and is hit or miss.

I wished my ASUS U36SD can do 900p but as long as I can see something on the screen, that's fine as it is. |

Heres the newegg deal price matched on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Idea...m_sbs_pc Id go amazon over newegg because if it has a bad trackpad you can actually return stuff to amazon, newegg only does exchanges and probably expect you to pay the shipping back to them. I plan on exchanging thru amazon til i get a good one. They also have the i7 model with 8gb ram for $1024.99 at amazon, as well as other upgraded models if you are really just dying for that gimmicky 16gb ssd cache or more ram. |

Just in case someone wandering through the thread was looking for a bigger laptop ...

Not to mention that HP is probably the worst offender of them all. Their build quality is just terrible. I'd say it goes like this in terms of quality: Apply > Lenovo > Dell > Asus > Acer > Samsung > Toshiba > HP > Compaq (which is just HP) Any one saying lenovo's build/product quality is sub par just plain has no idea what they are talking about.
