Very tempting, but I'm waiting for about $150 before I can replace the platter drive in my desktop, nice deal though.

Can anyone prove that TLC fails more quickly under normal uses?
So much TLC > MLC, but I have yet to see ppl on here prove anything. I'll say it again, TLC 840 non-pro drives can withstand 400TB of writes. If anyone is using these as storage, get an HDD as back up. You should be backing up your data anyways! |

Google scholar and scifinder scholar are your friends. I would not use this drive for enterprise use, but for anything home or enthusiast related it will be fine. Instead of chasing TLC ghosts, the skeptics here should focus on firmware issues and H77 compatibility that have been reported with this drive. These are issues that will actually put a damper on the SSD party. |

This is an interesting article. It estimates a conservative figure of daily writes that a 256gb drive will last 23.4 years. So theoretically the 500gb drive will last around 50 years with those writes. Realistically, they will be much shorter, but still fine for consumers. Reading the comments, some very good points are brought up. Usually a drive like that will be filled up to almost max capacity with whatever applications and games are used. If a majority of the drive is written with data that doesn't change, there may be a remaining 20% that gets written to on a daily basis. The former majority of the drive remains stagnant and undergoes less wear and tear, whereas the latter portion of the drive endures more wear. This produces uneven useage. The drive is warrantied for 3 years though, And most of us will have upgraded to something else by that time. Anyone support this theory? |

I have an m4 right now in my dev laptop, but running low. This is not much of an upgrade speed wise (if at all). Aside, I can replace the optical drive so 500gb might be overkill A Fool and his Words are Soon Parted
