This morning I had a dream I was in a Fry's in Fresno. I actually didn't realize it was a Fry's until I got to the checkout register. I immediately wanted to go to the TV section to see if they had any high-end plasmas to compare PQ with since both of the Fresno Best Buy's closed their Magnolia centers. Then I started thinking about all the amazing Fry's slickdeals I had missed because I had thought Fresno didn't have one and I felt bummed (especially the last 660 Ti deal). Then it hit me, I was pretty sure Fresno in fact didn't have a Fry's, so I started arguing with the cashier asking her what was going on. Then I realized I was dreaming and kind of laughed, but woke up before I could do anything cool in the dream world thanks to pest control knocking on my front door. Grrrrrrrrr!

FWIW They're $225 (22,499 points) a pair shipped for Sony cardholders from sonyrewards. The 7000's are $270, both through Feb. 28.
I got the 7000's for $210 plus tax in September. They are fairly colored sound-wise but with a little equalization pretty decent for the price. |

The most important thing is impedance really must match. I will eventually work on matching fronts with center as I stated, because that gives you the best homogenous timbre results. My sub is adjustable so it will play well with anything. The Bose bookshelf spkrs were leftovers from my last system. It was either let them gather dust or throw them in the mix. Might as well use them if they help enrich the sound quality. I really like the sound from my Frankenstein system. I just don't feel like being hijacked to build a whole spkr system around one good deal while paying retail for everything else. My initial goal is to match fronts to the center as I stated. I probably wont worry about the rears unless I get a great deal on some Polks. Another way to go cheap is wait for a "bed in a bag" type all inclusive spkr system, and they are no where near the quality of what I have now. I am not an audiophile by any means. It is all relative. Good sound for reasonable cash allows me to wait out the good deals for my goals. If you like a post, or get some help or useful information, give out a Rep! It's free and easy. Reviews on Amazon are rock solid.
4.7 stars after 195 reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SS-F60...000OG4E20/ Seems like the people crapping on the quality are either severe audiophile nerds with Superman hearing or got duds and didn't bother trying to get replacements. |

If you gave them a blind audition I bet it would be tough to call them junk. Maybe a slightly less quality than some at 3 times the cost, but for this sale price, don't let it scare you away. Happy as a clam that I gave them a chance. Sound clear at higher volume levels and not bad bass either. No chuffing heard. I have not even got around to EQ settings, or fine tuning with the Onkyo Audessy set up mic. I just positioned them for a generally balanced sound so far. I can't expect them to sound much better afterward, but I will try it soon. |

I got these from the $99 deal, and when there are high-pitch tones (I have the Pioneer vs-522k AV Receiver) I hear a bit of a sort of "squeel" for lack of a better term. My question is... are they defective if they are doing that? What settings can I change on my avr to maybe mitigate it if the speakers are fine?
