I own a Kindle Fire 2 (won it!), and I played with a Nexus 7 for a week or so (was a gift for my mom), and I would highly recommend you stick with a Nexus 7 or most any other Android based tablet, at least until a rom of Jelly Bean or even ICS works on KF2.

I recently got my KF rooted (10.2.4), installed Google Play Store, and a couple of other cool features, but the stock Amazon OS on this thing feels kind of clunky, maybe I'm just used to my phone (a Nexus 4) but it just looks ghetto IMO.

Once you get it rooted, you can disable the lockscreen ads which were annoying since I never expected to see so many pictures of a woman on a couch reading an e-book with a gigantic smile; so that's cool.

The OS has a "dock" style (almost OSX) thing for apps with huge icons; but most of the Google Play Apps look really blurry since they're basically blown to 500% size of the standard app icon size.

OS aside, weight wise it felt a lot heavier to me even though it's only about 15% heavier, though I prefer the boxed design of the KF (I guess shaped like an iPhone4+, Nexus 4) vs the Nexus 7's rounded design (similar to that of a S3?). I'm not really sure if this translates to more battery or what not, never really bothered to look.

Mini-review/rant aside, a KF2 is nice, but unless you plan on spending some time rooting it (which was annoying in Windows 8, btw) and hoping for a (FULLY WORKING!) Jelly Bean release for it, go with a Nexus 7 or similar if you can.

(EDIT: FYI, above mini review was about a KF2, not an HD, so maybe that may sway, but this was to point out some of the OS issues I got)

Mine Shipped today. I had to call them to confirm. According to the rep the system is behind on the emails due to volume. The number I used was 18778267937.

Just ordered one, no tax in NC.

I just got an email about shipping this morning and tracked it. Kindle to be delivered today via UPS. Most likely if you ordered on Wednesday afternoon your kindle will come today.

I ordered on Wednesday, and I just got tracking info that it will be delivered on Monday. I actually ordered 2 (2 amex cards/2 twitter accounts) and both are scheduled for Monday...

All the promotions are not applicable for Business card. I had one business card which was synched but did not get the credits. When I called CS, I was told that Business cards are not qualified even though you can see the offers under Selected Offers in your account.

Also, I was originally charged tax with my order and the invoice that came with my shipping confirmation showed no tax, so they maybe going back and crediting people that were originally charged tax. The transaction still hasn't hit my card yet so I will follow up when it does.

I called Links Unlimited yesterday, and the girl told me that they were shipping them "as we speak" and I would receive and e-mail notification when it had shipped, but nothing yet.
