Root and flash the Fire HD? or Stay stock? What should I do...

I would root it and install Google play store. Also disable future Amazon updates so that you don't loose your root privileges in the future. It makes the tablet so much better with Google play store available.
Also the tablet is more fun to use with the special offers taken off the lock screen.

True true. Okay I gotta try it soon. So far, I'm still on stock and there are really no apps that I actually use that is available on Amazon's app store. Every app I use right now on the Fire HD was installed manually with apk file. Lol.

You're right Amazon's app store looks very limited compared to Google play store.
You do get the "app not available on this device" messages from Google play store sometimes but most of the applications seem to install fine. For those unavailable apps you can always install manually.

Yeah manual install works fine, but always a pain to not have the convenience of just going to the Play Store and installing. Everything else on the tablet otherwise looks fine. The display and sound is great.
