If you have a table saw or are decent with a circular saw, you can cut a cheap panel to fit the back. Depending on your area, you can get a 4x8 sheet of hardboard for less than $15. Bolt it to the rails in the back and it will increase the lateral strength A LOT more than you would think from such generally flimsy material. This is the same concept as most bookshelves/entertainment centers having a sheet of luon on the back. |

Should have called then Chimp Shelf's.
Definitely not a Gorilla. The cross bar supports are made of sheet metal, and bend very easily when weight is added. I had to drill and screw extra sections of wood from the front to the rear cross bar to keep the shelf's from bending the supports. ![]() ![]()
