I have two similar ones in my basement. I think I bought them from Kmart when they were on clearance. The ones I have are sturdy, but they could really use a cross bracket on the back so they don't shift side to side. Either way, they are fantastic for organizing stuff in the basement, I'm in for another, thanks OP!
Those of you from prior deals, any idea how long they take to get to the store? And since someone said they didn't get notified, do they usually send an email, call or really don't notify you?
If you have a table saw or are decent with a circular saw, you can cut a cheap panel to fit the back. Depending on your area, you can get a 4x8 sheet of hardboard for less than $15. Bolt it to the rails in the back and it will increase the lateral strength A LOT more than you would think from such generally flimsy material. This is the same concept as most bookshelves/entertainment centers having a sheet of luon on the back.
Definitely not a Gorilla. The cross bar supports are made of sheet metal, and bend very easily when weight is added. I had to drill and screw extra sections of wood from the front to the rear cross bar to keep the shelf's from bending the supports.
