QUOTE=dw234;57569576]what does this mean "just be sure to wrap the free edge to avoid the top coat shrinkage". sorry. newbie to this lol
yea, I'm a newbie too, what does it mean?[/QUOTE] Wrapping your nails refers to putting polish on the tip/end of your nail and slightly over the edge onto the undersidof your nail as well. Some polish shrinks when it dries which will leave the tip bare, wrapping prevents that. Wrapping also helps your manicure last longer by slowing tip wear (where after a day or two the ends of your nails become bare from the polish wearing off ). http://the-polished-perfectionist...s.html?m=1 Link on how to do it with pics. |

No problem, it's a lingo most wouldn't know. Your free edge is the very tip of your nail, the end of it that can tap on the desk. This part of the nail is probably most prone to chips, shrinkage, whatever. While top costs are great for protecting from chips and drying quickly, they can cause shrinkage, which more or less looks like you didn't paint the entire nail. It will literally shrink your polish. To prevent this, you want to wrap, or paint that free edge. I'll be honest and say that I don't always do this, but that is because I change colors several times a week. But, this measure can be used with your gel Polish as well, and which I always try to do to because it can extend the manicures life. I'm not an expert, but this is a hobby for me. I I hop this answers your question. |

so i got mine and did it last night. the red polish worked great i tried it for the pedicure, but for my manicure I tried OPI's blasted nail color and it didn't work that great. The first coat was kinda weird, it wasn't going on smooth...i'm not sure if this is because it's the blasted one(never used before) so it cracked or if it's just the OPI won't work with this kit? guess i'll try again once it starts to chip on me. do i need to only use the gelish/gel polishes with this?? tia!
also i have short nails but i followed the instructions step by step last night and already two of the nails are chipping..am i doing something wrong?? |

Thanks for the hints and tips, everyone.
I did my nails Monday and am very pleased with how they look, but even more so, how long they last. No chips or peeling of any sort, they look like new despite doing dishes, taking showers, working with my hands. They still look like I just painted them five minutes ago. OMG, it's so nice to have low maintenance nail polish! One less thing to worry about. I'll be looking forward to see how this works with regular nail polish, I bought some beautiful Zoya colors (thanks to SD) that I cannot wait to try. Thanks again, everyone!
