The research and reviews I've confirm what you're saying about nails lasting *a lot* longer, no chipping, etc. I can hardly wait! woot

LOL, my last manicure was over 10 years ago, long before gel polish came on the scene. Smilie

Glad to know this is a good investment time & money wise. Thanks again for sharing. For now, with Valentine's Day this week, I'm wearing Opi's "The Color of Minnie", in the next week, or so I'll start wearing green polish for St. Patrick's Day. It's my small way of celebrating color especially in the dark winter months...I *need* color!

No problem! I was happy to share what I know and love about this product. I used to give myself a french manicure every 4 or 5 days, I hate chipped polish. This kit has saved me a lot of time and I think any woman would love it. Takes a little practice and removal can be time consuming, but it is absolutely worth it.

will this kit work with OPI's gel colors?

I'm in! Thanks, the wifey goes to the salon and I don't mind but she gets uneven results. I'll give this a shot.

Does anyone have any recommendations on getting more paint colors? Will any brand work or only Red carpet brand? I checked out the french manicure kit and it was $20 :/
I actually own a Gelish kit, and am going to buy this too, and just sell off the light since I already have purchased a LED light.

Yes, these aren't good for your fingernails - but not nearly as bad as acrylics. Your nails will be a bit dried out, but nothing terrible. A week's worth of moisturizing polish basically does away with the damage.

In regard to mixing gel polishes - they are NOT created the same. While most work with other kits, really cheap ones like Sally Hansen will remain tacky and fall apart far sooner than Gelish or Red Carpet or Shellac.

In terms of using a LED/UV light, I've heard UV lights are better, but I purchased a LED light that fits both my hands simultaneously (or both my feet), because I'm a busy bee and need to be able to do both at the same time, instead of spending twice the time doing one hand at a time.

ONCE YOU BUY THIS (or have bought it for your wife), PRINT THIS REVIEW FOR HER AS WELL: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3VW...ore=beauty

Yes, I know its for Gelish and not Red Carpet, but its a great general review of Gel polishes, what can go wrong and why it occurs, and how to make gel kits work with acrylics and with alternative brand polishes. It is the Holy Grail of gel polish info. I went weeks with having bumps on my nails before I read this and realized that the foundation layer was too thick.

As for whether this is a "deal", it DEFINITELY is. I spent ~$80 on my LED light + Gelish kit. This is a great value for a starter kit. However, I do think that the Gelish kit is better, so if you become hooked - try switching into Gelish's foundations.

Hope this was helpful!

Was on the fence about this, but some posters on a polish forum I frequent said it was a great deal (which based on numbers, it definitely is), and provided the following info as well:

RCM is generally well-reviewed and I believe is made by the same manufacturer as Gelish.

The LED lamp will work with any UV/LED-cured polish, so you can use it with Gelish, Sensationail, Sally Hansen, etc as well as the RCM. It won't do anything for regular polishes, though. Which doesn't mean you still can't wear your regular polishes, I would just recommend layering them over the gels. I get much longer wear time doing that and my nails hold up better.

Just make sure you follow removal procedures to the letter!! I cannot emphasize this enough. I got bored last week and indulged my picking habits with the gels I was wearing and really roughed up my nails.

I broke down and got it. I did a bit of research (Hooray Google!) and most came back saying that you could use regular polish, but before you put the top coat on and cure it with the lamp, it has to be absolutely dry or else it will ripple/bubble. While it may not save time like the gel colors will, it will still work with regular polish and last longer.

This is not working with the new customer coupon!

How do I get the extra $10 off??

Never-mind got it. Was confusing the savings of $40 as the total price. Put in my zipp code to estimate tax and then it showed the discount

This sounds stupid, but is there anything more to this than just some $1 UV LEDs hooked up to a power source? Couldn't you just make one of these yourself for like $8? I've wanted to make one but wasn't sure if there was something more to it or not...
This is the most inexpensive set that I have seen. You still need all of the polishes and you would pay more for them. Consider it a free light, even better than $8 homemade.

I can confirm that you can use regular polish with the system. It's often referred to as a 'Gelly Sandwich'. But keep in mind that the polish must be completely dry prior to using the top coat. Also, it won't wear as well. I never got beyond a week and a half. Of course, I am usually tired of a color by then. Smilie

I didn't notice this before but the original post does not list that a bottle or red gel polish is also included in the set. It is clear in the photo (on top of the box) and the product description notes "gift color included." That alone is about $9.99 in value.

Do you have to buff your nails way down? Some reviews mention that. I have great natural nails and would love to do gel polish that stays for weeks but am scared the process will hurt my nails.

I have had these manicures! It messes your nails up for quite some time. It is great while the gel coat is on there
