FYI - the pi (running xbmc) also supports airplay out of the box. Just turn it on and it is available to any device on your network. Once again, not trying to threadcrap - a few people have PM'd me questions as they wanted a cheaper alternative to the apple tv (I own both).
You will need to encode anything you capture in x.264. The Pi does not have the power to play anything in software that it's hardware decoder does not support. That means you'll need a reasonably beefy back end.
Don't want to hijack the thread, I don't want people to be misinformed.
Raspberry Pi (Pi) can do airplay with XBMC. (audio and video without DRM. No Mirroring,)
XBMC has addon for many online sites.
You many want to add the following on top of the $35 pi
SD card = $??
Power Supply = $5-$10 (get a good one, needs 2amp)
Case = $5-$15
All of the above are optional, you may have a good power supply around.
