As mentioned your is a switch, the one that is currently posted is like a giant wireless adapter for multiple devices. So instead of everything having a wireless adapter you would hook all the items through Ethernet to the trend net and it would connect the devices to your wireless network.

No, not really. This is primarily for devices that are wired only and need/want wireless capability.

It's not an extender/repeater, IOW, it can't establish its own AP, it can only connect to another AP as a wireless client.

Damn, I'm going to return it then. I thought it was a wireless extender. That's what I thought the word "bridge" stood for but apparently it's not so I will not have any use with this since my Android TV MINIX X5 already has WiFi built it. It's just my router doesn't have the greatest range possible.

It’s a bridge because it bridges wired users to wireless. This is also known as a client bridge. A repeater is also a client bridge, but it ADDS an AP of its own so that you can include wireless clients at that same bridge. Of course, you can always configure your own repeater if you have a client bridge by using another AP (e.g., a second router). In fact, it’s more efficient this way because you can use a different freq for the repeater's AP than the one used on the primary router. Throughput actually DOUBLES.
