you don't want to get Everyday/Preferred ones? they should be under "EXCLUSIVE OFFERS (3)" tab.

Applied, but got a error message so have to wait on the mail.

I thought I would use this card to buy gift cards at Kroger and get the 6% rebate. Then I could use the gift cards wherever but I think it's a no go. I got my card today and read all the "term & conditions". It says that prepaid cards or "cash equivalents" are not elgible for any rebate. It further says that retailers code these type of cards in order to flag them. I think I'll try a small purchase and see what happens.

They do. Large reason why it's capped now at $6K a year. Many stores do not share the tier of information to Amex that shows item level data.

Interesting... do you know if gift cards at Safeway or Lucky are OK to purchase and receive the AMEX rebate points?

Cool just did the application for $150 cash back and got instantly approved. I am self-employed and my income wasn't that high, though I have a high credit score . Awesome and thanks for this deal !!!

Transactions post with a MCC code assigned to the charging merchant based upon the general type of goods they sell - the items you purchase on a particular transaction do not matter.

Safeway/Lucky etc. will always flag as "grocery", and you will qualify for the 6% no matter what you purchase. To make your gift card purchases less obvious, don't go and purchase ONLY gift cards in any one transaction - consistent transactions for $25, $50, $100 etc. - the typical gift card amounts - could raise a flag. Adding a gift card on to any normal grocery purchase will be fine, and you'll always get your cash back.

As stated before, the gift cards are why they capped the spending at $6k, but there's no way to tell what particular items you are purchasing.
