American Express Blue Cash Everyday/Preferred Offers ($150/$250 signup bonus; YMMV)

FWIW I've had this card for over a year. Absolutely no complaints at all. Managed to rack up $546 in reward points by doing almost all of my shopping at grocery stores (buying gift cards).

My only gripe is that when you go to spend your reward points they must be spent in increments of $25, even if you want to apply rewards to your statement balance.

Everyday or Preferred? Trying to decide which makes sense.
I'm also curious if you can convert a preferred to an everyday later on.

To answer your question: Yes, you can downgrade later on

best thing is to cancel it and start all over again.

I'm fairly certain you cannot change the product in the first year on any cards anymore without a cancel/reapply - they will cite the CARD act not allowing it. If you want clarification definitely reach out to american express, they should be quick to answer either way.

If you do cancel, and want to get again for the bonus - keep in mind you cant apply for the same card and get bonus for 1yr - or 3 months for the same "class" (IE: blue cash/blue cash preferred.)

From what I have read in this thread, the fee is NOT waived. Many people have tried speaking with rep to get it waived and very few have succeeded, if any at all.

Depends on the issuer. Visa always charges, but Shell Oil never does.

This was asked a few pages back - they will issue you a new card with the same number (but a different CCV)

as long as it is coded as a purchase and not a cash advance you will be fine.
