New Grill
Grill right now is 8 years old and needs to be taken to the dump. I am looking for a grill with a large grilling space, propane preferably. I was looking at some of the Weber Genesis E-310s and I just dont know if I can go out and spend 900 bucks on a grill and feel alright about my purchase. Any suggestions? Grill stays outside 100% of the time but on a covered porch, planning on getting a cover for it too. |

I'm in the same boat; can't decide whether to wheel the old grill to the curb for the metal scavengers to collect or attempt to sell it on Craigslist for ~$10.
Anyway - Weber Genesis grills are assembled in the USA and have great reputations. The E-310's retail for $699. Stainless steel version is the S-310 and that retails at $849, closer to the $900 that you quoted. Either will last at least another 8 years from what I've read. The Spirit line is assembled in China and retails for $499. Char-Broil has much cheaper grills that are similar in appearance but have inferior components. Expect to lay down $200-$300 (or more) for an equivalent size to a Weber. I'd expect it to last ~5 years of average use, give or take several years. The benefit of going with Weber is that replacing parts that wear out is easy. Char-Broil, well, not so easy. In my opinion, your choice boils down to: a) Weber - buy quality to last with a large up front cost b) Char-Broil (or ____) - spend less now, expect to buy a new one down the road I've been looking for deals on Weber grills and they are few and far between. Haven't bought yet but am leaning / biased heavily toward Weber. You've been warned (of my bias)... <and now for some randomness> Home Depot near me has the Weber fish turner (huge metal spatula) on clearance for $9. Touring their grill selection is fun and easy as it allowed me to raise the hoods and form an opinion based on sight and touch. |

I will suggest DON'T buy a Kenmore! I have one that was $850MSRP and the POS did not last 3 years. Kenmore's service also SUCKS they will not help you at all even for warranty items. Kenmore also has a little shit trick they pull that if something is covered under warranty you have to pay close to $100 for them to replace it. Even a stupid grate! This is how they get around covering warranty repairs. You aren't even allowed to send it back to them to inspect!

We have a Char-griller wood grill and love it. They do make a gas grill too and it gets good reviews. It would be a good choice for someone who wants a gas grill but doesn't want to spend a fortune on a Weber or Char-Broil. If you want to check it out in person, I know Lowes carries the gas grill. Home Depot might too but I'm not sure about that.
