Kidding aside, 3-5 hours is subpar even for laptops nowadays. And we are talking about a tablet, which is supposed to be used away from a power source most of the time, and 1/3 of the average battery life for the tablet category is definitely not something to write home about.

I bought one of these on Sunday at Staples in Van Nuys (last store that had any stock) and I've been on batteries for well over 5 hgours so far and it's still going. With the coupon it cost me $898.16 out-the-door including all the CA tax and recycling crap. After a couple of days of use I am selling my ASUS Zenbook and ASUS TF700T with dock because this thing replaces them both.

I guess it depends what you want to use it for, it's not a replacement for my desktop computer. After getting my 64GB up and running, I backed up the restore partition to a thumb drive and deleted it from the Surface. I installed the full version of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 (HUP, well worth it), and I dumped about 14GB worth of photos on it. I installed a bunch of random stuff from the Store and I still have 27.7GB free not including the 32GB MicroSD card that is installed. Taking into account that Staples stores don't carry the 128GB version, it was well worth grabbing the 64GB version with the $75 coupon.

Exactly, only 23GB space available to customers, what you can install and do with only 23GB?? I believe after you installed office, and a small number of applications, the drive will be full! The marketing and technical people in Microsoft are unqualified to be hardware engineers. They think the hardware using their software brains. It is funny, other specs are good, but drive space is only 23GB available. This is not android, for android, 23GB means a lot. But for windows applications, they usually have big size, small number of applications will use up 23GB.

Getting 128GB one later when it is available would be the best bet.

You didn't read the post immediately above yours, did you? The recovery partition is almost 9GB.

I'm amazed that there are sellers on eBay that are asking almost $400 over retail.
