One thing I learned, if planning to access the cam(s) remotely, it is best to set a port other than 80. Set a range like 8070-8079 for the cam(s). I also match up the ending # w/the IP
Ex: 192.168.1.70 port: 8070 Great cams, many apps you can use on your phone for security and/or baby monitor. You can even have email alerts send to your gmail, in turn set a filter in gmail to text your phone. (short delay though). So you can essentially setup your own free security monitoring system. |

I have bought one of these with the intention of using it as a baby monitor. Does anyone know of an android app that I can use with this that will allow the audio to run in the background. Im currently using IPCamviewer but the audio cuts out if you're not directly viewing the camera. Are theyre any apps that will allow the audio to constantly run in the background even if the screen isn't on or you're not looking at the video stream??

BEWARE and change your settings if using Foscam built in DDNS service xxxxxx.myfoscam.org
Security concern when using the new foscam ddns built in service. Before you connect your foscam to your home network, read this very informative post first: http://foscam.us/forum/security-c...28-10.html I highly recommend you disable the factory ddns. foscam has horrible security. No point making it even easier for other to hack you. I changed my settings per post since that get_params command dumps my wifi password, user password and any mail forwarding passwords also. Some guy in that thread got a foscam built in DDNS url that shows the camera live even without entering a user id and password...damn scary! |

Two questions:
1) Is it my understanding that when setting up the camera for the first time, to connect it directly to the WiFi unit and program? What advantages are there to doing it this way as opposed to just allowing it to find your WiFi and connecting it "wirelessly"? 2) My only concern has been with regards to recordings. How have people been setting up their cameras to record? I don't mean, sending an email with a snapshot but rather, a video. What if your home is broken into, how do you go back to review your video to see who the perpetrators are? I have seen one solution which suggested to use an iCloud service. Does that not eat up bandwidth? Ad(Thanks)vance |

Has anyone used this camera outdoors maybe with a casing? I am thinking on setting one of this under an eave to keep an eye on my 2 basset hounds in the backyard while at the office. I can fabricate an acrylic (plexiglass) casing to keep the rain away (I work for a display fabrication company, so I can make a case to my specifications) and just run the cable from the charger into the house for power. Anyone tried this before? Will it hold to the weather with the casing (will it fog?). Any input will help.

After seven years of SD, I've come to conclude that Slickdealers are protein-powder guzzling, pistol packing, cheap-ass video game nerds.

So the only thing that you need to worry about is setting up a secure password if you use the DDNS feature. |

I will try...
