Temporarily. Dropping below the 50% mark (and staying there) triggers a reorganization, which can severely impact write speed for a few minutes. Once it's done, speed returns to high levels, though not as high as before. My drive's at nearly 70% capacity, and except for a brief slowdown once it reorganized and kicked out of performance mode, it's nearly as fast as when it hardly had anything on it. Which is to say, still very fast. I have it on a Mac currently, that takes two and a half seconds from Apple logo to desktop. That's a fraction of a second slower than before. When I run apps that thrash the disk a lot I don't notice any speed difference at all, though I'm sure there could be a slight one.
