would think about it if insides weren't plastic. Reviews said it doesn't really keep temperature and that the plastic retains odors.

You guys should try the local Asian supermarket... Much cheaper for all SS inside and out, including the little bowls to hold food. This one here is marketed and aimed towards white type people, people who don't know where and how to buy one of these.
I have like four of these similar variants laying around. I LOVE Asian Girls.

I bought the Zojirushi XB20HG lunch jar at a Japanese supermarket a few years ago. It cost $50 there while only $45 on Amazon. Great quality Japanese product though.

I have one of these and well it depends on what kind of meals you want to have. For a lunch container it has 4 bowls as shown but one is a soup bowl. So if your lunch is filled with multiple dishes, sure this would be great. Personally I stopped bothering to use it because a single large container proved to me MUCH more convenient. I do admit it keeps the temperatures pretty well but I just stopped using it because it became a hassle to carry and lug around.

This is a decent price drop. Although it is only somewhat cheaper than their regular sale price, Zojirushii bento items just do not seem to have significant price drops. I have been tracking this item since November 2012 and this it the cheapest I've seen it (cheaper by about $2).
