I would STRONGLY encourage you to pick up at local store if you buy this cabinet. I have one and it does what I need, but we had to open 4 units at the store to get one that was not damaged. I don't think it would take UPS shipping too well

Does anyone know If this will rust easily?

i've run into this problem over and over again with Sears - it's NOT the fault of UPS.

Sears ships big items in their retail boxes...that's right...just their retail box. I ordered a Craftsman Miter Saw Stand to have it delivered to my house. The UPS guy showed up at my door with the box nearly broken in half. I opened it on the spot and the stand was severely dented and deformed and nearly all plastic pieces were shattered. The guy said this is what happens when a retailer ships a product in the regular retail box (that's meant to sit on a shelf) instead of a shipping box. As the product moves on the conveyor belt, when it hits the sorter and takes the ~1ft fall to the next conveyor it destroys things that aren't packaged properly. Multiply this by how many times it gets sorted and yeah...you get the picture

Needless to say, I have all of my items shipped to the store from now as because at least then they are shipped in neatly stacked pallets. No matter who I talk to, Sears won't ship anything in a shipping box and thus so many of their products get damaged in transit.

If I can find a picture of that miter saw stand, for humor, I will post it here

Sears shipping department is developmentally challenged. One time they sent me 12 nesting storage boxes in 12 individual cardboard boxes. When stacked together, all 12 were about the size of 2 individual ones. Clowns.

Retail price is $159.99, so this is a good deal. I'd pick it up if I had a few extra bucks.

Incorrect. This is not the same box - although the pictures do look similar. If you'll have a look at the reviews on MyGofer, you'll discover that the drawers on this particular set do not have ball bearings, while the set you're linking from sears does. The description from OP says 'standard steel drawer slides,' not ball bearing.

This is still a great price though for a young person just starting out. The drawer slides on this unit will be fine for most.

I've got the sears version of this basic combo cabinet from a few years back. About the same price that we paid back then and it works great for my use. They bearing slides aren't an issue unless you have lots of heavy tools and are in the box frequently. As for the logo, it is "customer installed" so you don't have to apply it (I didn't).

this ignores the utube(sic) videos of the ups driver chucking the packages over the fences, etc. I can just imagine what the edumacated ups guys do on the line, without customers watching.

not to say sears doesn't suck...even pickup in store I check the item carefully!

i don't quite get what you are trying to say. the fault does not lay with UPS when Sears ships their products in their regular shelf retail boxes with just a shipping label slapped on. automatically Sears is to blame. whether UPS mishandled the package is not relevant as any properly packaged box should withstand typical mishandling per packaging standards. UPS throwing my saws over a fench into my yard is not the cause of the damage - i met the UPS driver at the top of my driveway

what do you mean if they combined them? combined what?? i ordered 3 items - table saw, miter saw, and miter saw stand. all 3 items were destroyed upon receiving them which was evident when i saw the condition of the boxes. all Sears had to do was put each product in its sealed retail box then in its own shipping box. is that too much to ask? every other retailer does it. due to Sears's lack of common sense and pure ignorance, they destroyed $590 of mechandise

the other guy in here said it spot on - the people in Sears shipping department are morons

I keep mine in my garage and, even though it doesn't get wet from rain or anything just the moisture in the air, it has never shown to rust. The drawers still open smoothly too. Of course, I have the red Craftsman ball-bearing version but I am sure it's made from the same materials.
