i have a very similar tool chest from craftsman. The metal is thin and dents easily. The box it came in was definitely flimsy and I dont see how this could possibly be shipped that way.
For any DIYer, this is more than sufficient. If you are a mechanic, I would recommend something a little sturdier. I would buy this again, especially for this price. Looks nice, craftsman brand, does its job.
A month or so ago, I was in the market for a tool box. I wanted something simple and didn’t want to spend over 100.00 since I was only going to be keeping it in the basement. I went to Sears and came across this tool box with the risers and all. Immediately I knew this thing was garbage. The metal was very thin and appeared to dent itself as I looked at it. The drawers weren’t deep at all; I couldn’t imagine comfortably storing a socket set and some attachments inside and removing them with ease. I really thought that this was a toy intended for children and that by mistake it was put in the wrong department. I wound up purchasing the Husky set (for 98.00) from Home Depot and I couldn’t be happier. Sure, the metal is thin but it isn’t as thin as the Craftsman. The drawers are a lot better and they seem very secure. My only complaint with the Husky set is that the hardware provided with the casters are incredibly cheap and strip themselves if you try to do more than snug them. I highly suggest you compare the two of them for yourself. Sure, 84.99 may seem like a deal but for the extra couple bucks, you’re better off with the Husky but that’s just my opinion.
