Even if this is a generic "fake", it will work just fine. No need to spend anything extra.

Keep in mind that ebay and Amazon vendors are awash in counterfeit, fake, clone versions of this exact Motorola charger. The genuine Motorola car charger is a great product, the fakes are no better than the awful $1 generic Chinese chargers.
I'd strongly recommend avoiding this and spending a whole $3.14 extra on a guaranteed genuine high-quality Motorola charger. Either that or save $2 and get a generic $1 crap charger.

No, because this particular Motorola charger is a high quality unit that gets great reviews. The cheap $1 Chinese chargers are largely crap, they introduce noise and have even been known to damage electronics. If the one for sale above is a counterfeit, it probably has the internal electronics of a crappy $1 Chinese charger. Why spend $3 on a counterfeit Motorola with crappy internals when you can get an "authentic" crap Chinese charger at most dollar stores for $1?

Can anyone please confirm whether this charger can do "AC" mode of charging for Android phones with a standard data cable?

BUT you say "with a standard data cable". The coiled microusb cord can't be removed (no USB port on the charger) I have one. I've written a thread here on this charger. Nothing is better. The only -tiny- issue: the center clear lens has an annoying blue glow Tl;Dr Unless you use a car dock that very far from the charging port, you want this thing. A good number of folks at xda recommend this as one of the best rapid car chargers. My car has a built in USB port, so I bought this to free up the USB port for music while charging my phone.

i would have to check the brand when i get back to my car. no idea how it died though, light turns on, cable is intact, but does not charge my phone. it's one of those chargers where you can unplug the tip and plug in different adapters for different phones.

i have this charger. it charges faster than the generic ones I've used in the past, but I dont have any figures. the blue light it emits is annoying.

i got this same cable from Amazon for $5 half a year ago. Out of 3, 1 is dead within 2 months. it just doesn't charge anything. no physical damage. some phones can detect it but the screen kept cycling on/off without charging anything. some phones does not detect it at all. |
