I'm sure nothing is wrong with them, but the whole point of slickdeals in general is impartial upvoting of deals. When you have shills blatantly upvoting their own sites, it defeats the purpose of it. For instance, I bet the folks at Walmart couldn't care less about this site, so I doubt there are Walmart shills upvoting those deals. Sites like Ashford have the opposite approach. While they might be good deals, ultimately I view any Ashford deal with a skeptical eye because of it.

1. These are not real Bulova. They are now manufactured with cheaper materials by Citizen. They also do not have Swiss movements any longer, but rather Japan and China-sourced quartz movements.

2. The 'diamonds' on the blanket watch aren't real. They are cubic zircona stones. The other watch does have some diamonds but they are incredibly low grade chips and will not sparkle at all, and are much smaller than you might think they are in the pictures -- due to the bezel having small little bumps of polished steel which plays with the visuals and tricks you into thinking there are more stones [and larger stones] than actually exist.

With that said, *meh* it's $140. You can't expect much for that price.

To respond to your comments above:

1. Ashford only sells authentic watches. All of our Bulova watches are 100% original.

2. The watch with model # 96E111 has 100% real diamonds - even though they may be small, they are all real. You can see this on the Bulova website Click here - Bulova.com [bulova.com] . (Just as a side - if the diamonds were to be any bigger, the price would most likely be more than double. This way you get visible diamonds at a reasonable price)

I understand your concern and why you may think that we would be voting up our deals. However, we take pride in offering our customers the best deal around and let all of our deals grow organically. If you search for Ashford in the search panel, you will see plenty of 'failed' ashford deals. We do not vote up deals, rather just monitor the forums for questions/comments about the watches and if any other issues arise. 1. What company owns the Bulova name now? Where were the watches manufactured? What type of movements are in the watches? I find it cute that you completely ignored the FACTS in my statement and manipulated the situation to make it APPEAR you're not shilling out garbage, which you are.

If I bought the Rolex brand name, then made a watch out of wood, rubber bands, and bubble gum wrappers, I could claim I was selling "100% original Rolex". The fact remains that any Bulova made in the past 6 years, and some even before that, are NOT made by the original Bulova company, and they do NOT have the same build quality or high-end components.

2. I already stated in my post that the diamonds in that watch were real. They are also the most pitiful quality garbage diamond chips that are completely WORTHLESS. To compensate for the terrible stones, Citizen builds up the metal surrounding the diamonds because the steel reflects more light than the diamonds do. Incidentally, the stones in these watches cost $1-2 each. I know this because my family owns TWO Fast Fix Jewelry stores. It is, in fact HARD TO FIND stones of such low quality because nobody bothers to stock them. When someone brings in a watch or ring with crap like this in it, we always have to replace it with better stones, at a cost of less than the price of a hamburger.

I appreciate your input. I own a recent bulova, I'm not a watch expert, but I love there styles and quality for what I have payed for them. Can you please post a watch for the same price with similar or better quality? thank you.

Pick any Seiko with that price and you will have bought a MUCH better quality watch. Let's just keep it simple: The quality is bad, the stones are bad, the movements are bad. If you can get by all of that just to brag that you have "diamonds" on your bezel, then go for it. But just remember that the only people who would be impressed are those that know absolutely nothing about jewelry.
