Isn't the digital version of USA today always available? I downloaded their free app months ago and get full content on my ipad. Is this different?

This is a replica edition - so it actually looks like the actual newspaper. You can download the paper in pdf format each day, get access to past editions, and enjoy accessible features like having it read to you, etc.

I've used the same display program for the Seattle Times e-edition and its pretty sweet.

Another perk = they've added an html5 mobile view, which means that the e-edition replica will show up great on a tablet that does not support flash. Selecting an article will put it in readable format much like Zinio.

I am really enjoying it.

I encourage you to check out the recently upgraded USA Today iPad app. I use it several times a day on my ipad and can tell you that it is exceptional. The direct access to video and related articles that is embedded in each article is excellent. A PDF cannot match what the "non replica" version can do.
