Biggest issue is it's network setup has some issues, if using wireless I would drop connectivity from my media server every 20-30 mins which is incredibly annoying. No issues at all with the wd tv live plus and the first gen one I never setup the wireless hack to it. If you don't need another one I'd bypass this as an upgrade. |

If you purchase a refurb let us know if the $15 Vudu movie credit shows up on a special offers tab on the home screen. Write down the code if it does because it may disappear after the unit does its auto-firmware upgrade.
I've watched quite a few movies on mine with no stuttering or freezing on wifi. Picture quality is excellent. 800Mhz processor is slow as you might expect for a $70 computer. Navigation between menus takes a few seconds. Set-up and log on to the router was fast and easy enough for an eight year old. PP reporting issues may have been with the old firmware. |

Has anyone used one of these with mlb.tv? I have the old and old+ versions which have worked great for 3 years for what they do but am intrigued by this model as it allegedly can stream from mlb.tv. I am not interested in going to the Roku or other brands at this point given the success of my three other WD's. Thoughts?

FYI there's a new WD TV Play just announced. Newer GUI, similar features based on the first couple previews that have trickled out. It doesn't do MPEG2 and DTS though.

I have the Live plus and this one. The new one is a little less responsive in the menus, but does look much better, and is more customizable. The wireless streaming is far more capable in the new one than the old one with a wireless N usb stick.
I was able to play a 16gb 1080p mkv from a blu ray with no drops or stutters at all. Quite impressive, and eliminated my need to think about running ethernet. I had all sorts of skips and stutters with the old box even with 720p content. The one issue I had with the new box was the initial setup with my windows Vista shares. It took me a couple hours to sort it out. |

![]() I have three of the WD TV Live Plus boxes and the biggest thing I am missing is the ability to stream Amazon Instant Video, which doesn't look like it is coming to *any* of the WD boxes. At least for me, there is no advantage at this point go with the newer WD TV Live Streaming Media Player boxes......... |
