AE's run big. I have two pairs, the Park Avenue's and the McAllister's.
I always wear 10.5 normal width shoes. Some shoes I actually wear an 11. Both of my AE's are size 10, however they are also E width. AE's normal width is narrower that in the other shoes I've worn. TL;DR: In my experience, they're longer and narrower. Fantastic shoes though. |

For those who havent worn Allen Edmonds shoes before, an '11 Medium(D)' is not the same for all of their shoes. Allen Edmonds uses EIGHTEEN different types of lasts. The last essentially is the 'foot shape' that defines the shoe. While you may be an 11D in one last, another shoe in a different last could be a 11E or 11.5D for your foot. Its also possible that some lasts do not fit well at all, no matter the size you choose.
This may sound confusing, but the plus side is that if you get a last (or a couple of them) that fits well, you can buy other shoes made on that last with very high confidence that they will fit all the same. The only way to see what fits is to visit a AE shoe store or do a lot of guessing when ordering. Good luck! |
