As far as Newegg shipping goes...
Don't think they could have been much more secure, so no complaints from me. All are working perfectly in a RAID10 array in my desktop. |

Intellipower is variable RPM that has been measured at 5400 RPM. [silentpcreview.com] |

But the best performance upgrade would be a smaller SSD for the OS and programs. While keeping your larger files (e.g. video, picture, etc) on the larger standard HD's. The bare minimum OS SSD is ~30GB's but in real world application most people now recommend >100GB's. There have been some good deals recently on 120-128 GB SSD's for less than $100. Either the Samsung 840 Pro [samsung.com] or the Intel 520 [intel.com] would make an excellent system drive for your PC. Last edited by Flood; 02-14-2013 at 09:23 AM.. Reason: grammar |

if not.. if may be good to get a Seagate Momentus I suppose? |

Their performance is inconsistent. I guess if you want to throw them in a NAS, go for it. For a cheap 2TB data drive it would work for some people. For me though, I'd rather use drives with higher throughput. I like the Seagate Constellation drives. I have 8x 3TB Constellations in a Drobo iSCSI SAN and they're amazing. Much more consistency in the performance too. Noted here. http://www.pc-experience.de/optis...l=&start=6 |

Posted before but it seems helpful:
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/internal/desktop/ Blue = Solid performance and reliability for everyday computing. Red = Designed and tested for RAID environments. Black = Maximum performance for power computing. Green = Cool, quiet operation for efficient eco-conscious computing. VelociRaptor = High-performance storage for power users. Black and VelociRaptor have 5-year warranty Blue and Green have 2-year warranty Red has 3-year warranty Black is only one with 4TB options at this point. Refer to link for additional info. Edit: My main rigs: -Samsung 830/840/840 Pro SSD's for OS and heavy-use apps -WD Black for libraries, other applications, and working files (graphics/video editing) -WD Green for local music/video storage/backup I've got like 6TB worth of drives that are at or over 5-years old, starting to replace them with Red's in RAID for backup.
