I know that part.. I was stating I have TWO drives each 3tb and it's only showing 2.7xtb available. So I'm thinking either the 2nd drive of 3tb is bad (since it's not showing 5.4tb total) OR it defaulted to "mirror" raid - whichever that one is..
I imagine your mgmt tool should be able to show you the status of both devices. I assume it has a web mgmt interface where you can check.
I ordered 1 of these exact drives from Newegg < 2 weeks ago, and it was not. It came as someone described above. There was a small box that had the drive suspended in it by 2 plastic pieces, one on each end. That little box was then placed in a standard size newegg box (4 to 5 times as large as the small box) with about 5 feet of crate paper all squished up. The small box could move around a little but not too much inside there. The drive tested fine and wasn't DOA, but definitely wasn't packed as carefully as you describe. About to order another, so maybe I will take some pictures next time.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Packaging. I don't rag too much on a company but the packaging here was terrible (I've purchased many things from Newegg in the past). This drive was in a smaller HD box surrounded by a bunch of brown newspaper in a larger box. Not very secure. But here is the kicker - the box where the HD was actually in had the two black pieces to be used as support but the box was too big! So, when I opened the box the black pieces were not buffering the hard drive and just floating around! What good do the black plastic buffers do when the box is too big. You have to be kidding me. I'm extremely disappointed in Newegg on this one. Extremely.
Even if the drive checks out alright (I will test it) the confidence I have of ever buying a drive again from Newegg is gone.

Same here. Not sure if it is WD's fault, but I think Newegg should make sure the hard drive is secure before they ship it. Here is what mine looks like. https://www.dropbox.com/s/32c8sxx....11.29.jpg It's running ok so far. Hope it will last...
