LG plasmas are very good. I'm particular but not anal about what I buy, and I am extremely happy with the performance of mine (different LG model). When people see it they also tell me what a great TV they think it is.

Just a follow up everyone... called and finally got someone on the phone. Apparently, their PayPal payment is down online. Place the order over the phone and complain about the inconvenience and they will put in a request for a $20 credit off of your next order. They cannot discount the tv, because with them paying for shipping and the MIR it is actually at their cost. They are blowing these out for some reason.

LG's are not value brands... Vizio and Westinghouses and the crap that Walmart sells are value brands. LG's offer competitive pricing and performance that far surpasses their selling prices. Maybe they can sell for low because they manufacture mass amounts of panels and also supply panels for Sonys and Panasonics, among others.

I have a 50" Plasma at home for like a year and a half with flawless performance and many others can attest to that as well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another "GoldStar".

Koreans have quickly become the new Japan of electronics and cars... the public opinion about Korean products have yet to catch up to their quick rise in reliability and performance.

I was looking for a tv without smart features. its just more crap to go wrong. besides i already have a roku, smart blu ray player, xbox 360. and a ps3 for apps. I don't want a tv that updates itself, just opens you up for software conflict issues. I already filled out my rebate and the process went thru nice and smooth. A tiger direct rep called to confirm my order within 20 minutes. This is a much better buying experience then I expected. It looks like they are trying to fix a damaged reputation.

Not 240 Hz. Forget it. jk

They are making room for the 2013 models, hence why the sales are so good right now. Funny, I had a Paypal issue this morning on another order from a different company.

This is the actual reason why we get good prices on lg. people have no clue about the quality and technological advances they have made. They have never been a "value brand" instead they have used quality electronics at competitive prices to break in to the US market.

Yeah, must be a paypal issue or something... Once I called them on the phone and placed the order it was a great experience. The live chat is awful and the online experience was pretty bad. Once I spoke with real people, they all sounded like they were from the states and were all cool to speak with. Thumbs up, so far. Order is processed and should be here next week.

actually I would say Vizio and LG are on the same level...with some Vizio models scoring as well as( or better) than some LG's

I recall the Vizio full array LED scoring better than the LG from a couple of years ago...and to my knowledge it was with an LG panel

Westinghouse ..Dynex..Insignia..Sceptre..etc are all 3rd tier and/or house brands

Many manufacturers use other panels...that is not nearly all the story..as the picture processing is proprietary to the brand

As far as value surpassing its cost...what brand doesnt?

Lower end products are always a better value...no surprises there at all....

I have a full array LG 8500 from a couple of years ago..its a great set..is it as good as Sony's full array LED..the XBR..from the same time period...absolutely not
But the LG was 1/2 the price

I would not hesitate to buy sat asanother LG as some of these prices that are offered

However..they dont come close to the higher end Samsung's and Panasonics( I own all three)
