They aren't Westinghouse or Insignia and they aren't Samsung. IPS panels with good features for prices that get pretty close to the value brand range seems like a good thing to me. ![]()
I do recall Vizio having some real winners and I think that is putting pressure on LG to come back as they now have competition in the mid price good quality market. Omnitech hacking thread in tech support: http://forums.slickdeals.net/show...st19189495

So when this tv is $700 at sears no mir involved it isn't front page..
And when it is $600 at fry's it is not front page But when a store many long time slickdealers do not trust has it for $800 out of pocket it is front page? Obvious this was paid off by tiger direct. This tv is amazing but you should not pay a dime over $700 plus tax without mail in rebate Last edited by againareku; 02-14-2013 at 01:20 PM.. |

And comparing a vizio to an LG is ridiculous. Lg has been in the tv game waaay longer, before even plasma. I am sure some people have goldstar tubes or lg monitors that are over 15 years old.
the built in speakers on a LG sound half way decent and even on a LED the black levels are good enough..no comparison beween vizio and LG. If you really need a 70 inch go for the budget sharp 70 or get a LG 65. |

I picked this model up when it was $699 no rebate last month at Frys and have been very satisfied with it. I was upgrading from a 47" 2007 era Vizio LCD and the jump in picture quality is certainly noticeable. It's a plasma so I broke it in for roughly the first 100 hours and so far have not had any issues with image retention.
The TV has three issues folks should be aware of; I don't find any of them to be deal breakers for me personally. 1. There are only three HDMI ports (I run everything through my receiver, so no big deal). 2. There are no SmartTV features (between my Tivo/Xbox/HTPC I can get everything anyway). 3. The screen is a bit reflective (for my room setup it's not too bad, but I can see this being a real issue in certain setups). After the break in period I'm using the settings mentioned on this page [avsforum.com] of the avsforum thread and the results look great. The 60PA6500 is just the warehouse store version of the 5500. Current game queue: Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword...
