This Maglite is the old generation with Krypton light bulb, it is not the newer LED light.
You can upgrade with a newer LED bulb for about $10.

Great weapon, but not very good as a lfashlight since it isn't very bright. It's a decent deal if you upgrade the bulb and dont mind spending a ton on D cell batteries.

I've always wanted one of these beasts. But don't hink I'm going to buy it because I need a flashlight maybe 1 day out of the year if I'm lucky.

Pretty old school incandescent. Made in the USA though
 Pretty easy to get 500 lumens on a key chain light [orbtronic.com] these days so a real puzzel why anyone would want one of these?? |

I remember 20 years ago when a 4 D-cell Maglight was the bomb.
Now there are so many smaller, brighter, LED flashlights I cant imagine hefting one of these things. I have a bunch of Surefire lights, they are expensive but there are some on Ebay (Solarforce) that are just as good as Surefire, and 1/4 the price. If you want a dimmer light, that you could beat someone with if you need to, then this is a good price for it.
