Battery lasts around 3 weeks if you don't use GPS. Using GPS better charge it after about 8-10 hours of GPS use. Sent from Slickdeals App for iPhone & iPod Touch. |

I have this watch with the heart rate monitor. As a scientifically minded person, this has added incredible value to my runs. I find the website to be the best way to view your run afterwards. I use the watch as just a recording device while I run (I dont use it post-run to view results). It records where I run, how fast, my heart rate, elevation, etc. When I get back from a run, I plug it into my laptop and upload the run.
The website lets you see everything you could want to know about your run, including a map of where you went. You can even play back the run and see all the stats along the way (heart rate jumping around, pace dropping up a hill). You can click on any part of your run and see the speed, heart rate, and elevation at that moment. The website even has a calendar to help you calculate your miles per week. The heart rate monitor is very accurate and very useful. For intervals, you can use it to determine when to start the next phase, rather than time. Post run, you can use the website and compare your heart rate graph to previous intervals to determine if you need to rest more between runs. Complaints: 1. It takes about 15-20 seconds to report that its ready for a run after I walk out of the house. But, if I start running right when it says its locked on, I can see later on the map that it didnt have my exact position quite yet. It usually puts me 50 meters away from my actual position, then shows me running through houses for a minute. So, I do my pre-run warm up for about 3 minutes and that seems to be enough for locking on. 2. Its accuracy is only about 98-99%. I ran the same 4.65 mile loop three times, and it mesaured 4.62, 4.60, and 4.61 miles. Its not a big deal for distance runs, but you cant use it to measure intervals (i.e. 800m or 1/2 mile) and know when to stop. Best to pre-measure your interval distances or run on a track. I used to have this watch, and think it's great. I liked it better than using my phone as I could easily get Heart Rate data which is extremely valuable. At this price it's a no-brainer. Garmin support is nothing short of excellent as well.
If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it. The only downsides I found were battery life, the time it took to lock on the GPS satellites (This is a problem with multiple devices not just this one), and I would have preferred more data displayed on the screen at once (Garmin offers this on their higher models). For $99 though, I wouldn't complain. The benefits far outweigh the negatives. |

Anyone else wondering if these are actually refurbished?
From his feedback page (different item): "The item showed signs of being used though the box was sealed. Item does work." I know his description says otherwise but maybe it's a mistake? He doesn't exactly have immaculate feedback. |
