What HRM were you going to buy?

I just purchased a used 310XT. For the price, size, and warranty, this one seems like a good deal though. The one drawback is that I hear the watch will not display current pace, only average?

This is a great watch for those of you who are waiting for it. It should suffice for 95% of runners out there.

The only real negatives you will hear is about the current pace vs lap pace. I just set my lap counter to the default 1 mile. After each mile, it will tell you what the pace is for the current mile you are on and then reset every single mile.

The only other minor negative is the stupid charger connector alligator clip. I hate that thing because you need to align it just right to make sure the battery sign takes over the middle of your watch screen. Otherwise, it is not connected to charge or transfer.

There are way too many positives to list. I came from a garmin 305 (which is also a great unit) but this has what I need and is not a laptop on your wrist.

Agreed with netperx, lap pace is all most runners need. Current pace jumps around too much to be useful. If you are running for distance set your laps to 1 mile, or if you're ripping intervals set your laps to 0.25 mile. Very simple and effective.

This is a great buy compared to the lower-end 10, which does not allow you to view lap pace (except for a brief pop-up when you finish your lap). Note that the 10 usually sells for $129 so getting the next model up for less is a total win.

Can I set the lap counter to every 1/4 or 1/2 mile so pace gets updated more frequently?

That is a good question, that would change my mind a little bit on the current pace. But from what I heard it was one mile as the lowest you could set it to.
