Is it worth it to get the warranty? I got this earlier, but now I am thinking that maybe I should also get the warranty. I think we have 30 days to decide. This will be my first blu-ray player. From what it sounds like, blu-ray players don't last as long as vcr's or even dvd players, so I may be replacing this in a year. But I don't want to pay money for the warranty if it won't be honored later on. Thanks in advance.

I bought this crappy player from Target and returned it within a week. Has a lame facsimile of PS3's interface & menu but with grainy looking VGA style graphics. Strange little hiccup whenever I paused a Blu ray disc and hit play. Netflix support is awful - fast forward and rewind have no preview like the PS3 does. I bought this thinking I can give my game system a break on using it for Blu ray movies and ends up, even my ancient Philips Blu ray player with no Wifi and no online apps has better performance with discs. Skip this model and wait for the quality 3D players to start breaking the $100 price threshold instead.

Older players seem to be made more "solid", plus the pre-2011 players often have the component video out for which the MPAA made an agreement with manufacturers to leave out, due to the supposed ease of creating illegal copies/rips through those cable outputs. I shopped for a new one and gave up when I realized, they are all flimsy and have so much plastic in them they may as well double as food storage! shake head

I remember when I had a Sony BDP series bluray player. It committed suicide one day while updating its own firmware. Best $100 I ever spent.

Can you buy 2 at this price? I went back to order another and there is an issue with the coupon code.
Just open another account with a different eMail address. Everything else is the same (name, address, phone, etc.). Worked for me in the past.

lol, we've rarely if ever seen a sub $75 bluray player with built in wifi and all the apps on SD. Maybe a few at cowboom, if you can get them before they are snatched up and resold.

I got the same model only with 3D yesterday on Amazon for 44 dollars (after they credited me the 50 dollar rebate that they stripped from the product page) and a 20 dollar VOD credit - so net of 24 bucks (we use the VOD all the time) Smilie

This was a large thread from yesterday.

There are many wi fi Blu-ray players hitting below the 50 dollar range.

As far as warranties go, DEFINITELY get one. I have almost everything in my house warrantied via SquareTrade. They frequently throw out 30% codes....and rarely up to 40% ones.

They just had a 35% one for Valentine's Day, I had a new item and waited it for the code (you have 30 days to buy a plan from date of purchase).

We have my Keurig machine, our snowblower, all of our phones, and every piece of electronic equipment warrantied through them.

I love having their user interface to view all my products on their site, they store receipts, and I have made 3 seamless claims with them since 2008; including one for my last blu-ray player which has decided to die. I had it for 14 months, I paid 79.99 for it. I filed my claim online two days ago and ST emailed me a shipping label, I packed it up and shipped it away.

They did a full payout this time and said they're paying me my 79.99 in full plus 5% extra if I agree to accept an Amazon GC code instead.

I did some digging and to warranty this player (since the final price is under 50) for 2 years is 5.99 plus tax (without any codes which I would personally wait for). Or alternately, you could get it for 3 years for 8.49.

I love this company. It makes me feel better about buying refurbs.

Good luck!

I bought one of these earlier today, now I can move my LG into the bedroom so I can stream Netflix Smilie

Sony's interface is way better than LG's, I regret getting rid of my BDPS370 for it. Hoping this is as solid of a player as the 370 was.

I don't think most people are aware of what Cinavia is. PIA if you bought a street dvd and are expecting it to play. Or if you make copies of your own DVDs. Still it is cheaper than a Roku box.

Pretty bad feedback on how NewEgg sends this, just in the brown box with NO protection whatsoever. Was about to buy one as a gift but I don't want the hassle of a damaged shipment.

Decide.com does give the S390 an 87 rating, (top 3 of Blu Ray players, the other top sub-$100 was the S590).
