Free Blu-ray Ripper to MKV (Windows) - Aiseesoft - Today only

This depends on your settings. The raw data is typically around 20 to 25 GB. I find a good compromise of video and audio quality usually results in 6GB to 8GB files for me.

Makemkv is well worth the $35 after the trial version. Yes I bought it and it's a lifetime free upgrade. I've used the DVD ripper from this company before and it does not let u rip multiple audio streams. Makemkv does and is faster and simple to use

Your're talking about ripping and encoding. This software and makemkv just rip the blu-ray with no compression/encoding to an mkv container.

You can use handbrake or other encoders to compress the 25gb down to 8-10gb for 1080p or about 4gb for 720p. Of course you can make it any size you want, but those are the sizes that get you good quality.

I don't know anything about this one, but I use MakeMKV. It's version 1.7.10 now, and it's still got beta status so it's still free for now.....but it's been in "beta" for years now. It works well, gives me options on the content to rip. It doesn't compress, so it's just a fast ripper.

Funny. Mine (using aiseesoft) takes 3-4 hours. That is with the highest bitrates for both audio and video, but I do have on gpu acceleration. Anyone have thoughts on why mine is so slow? I know I have an ancient cpu (amd 64 x2 5000+), but a decent gpu (ati 4850 512 mb) and 4 gb of ram.

MakeMKV [makemkv.com] is still available for free. The "beta" has been going on since at least 2009.

You do have to keep updating the program, as each version expires. If you go to the forum, the developer posts a registration code [makemkv.com] which will keep it active longer.

Edit: a permanent registration is $50.

Yeah MakeMKV has been in beta valid for 30 days mode for years from back when it was only ripping DVDs, not BDs. Before the 30 day expires, they always have a new version out making it free for another 30 days. That also makes sure the software always keeps up with new BD release formats coming out. For me, until I see MakeMKV stopping their extended free beta, I won't be looking for a different BD ripper.

Damn that's slow. Try makemkv. Takes less than 30 mins to rip the BR. well I do have an i7 with gtx 580 but I don't think you'd should be that slow.
