I win. Brand does not equate to computing power nor quality |

Because it's not a good deal no matter who's name is on the box. It's a computer. The parts inside the box are made by different company's. When you look at those parts and you add up the amount of money they are asking you to pay for those parts, it's not a good deal.

Get your hands on an Alienware case, then make a judgement. BTW, I'm a graphic artist and Apple is no stranger to quality issues: https://www.google.com/search?q=+...ity+issues My coworker had to get his brand new imac replaced 3x this year. The last time, his machine just let out a loud pop and flash then started smoking and we had to evacuate the graphics department cuz the fumes were so noxious. Yes, I'm a graphics artist that uses PC. I use to own a 13" Macbook Pro but Alienware gives me more bang for the buck. People who think Alienware is overpriced obviously have never owned Apple products before. Last edited by funkmasterta; 02-15-2013 at 04:18 PM.. |

I doubt the other big case makers could do the same at such a cheaper price that would make it worth doing your own labor. Leave the labor to the Chinese. *no offense against Chinese, they do great labor! They build all our machines (Alienware, HP, Apple, Microsoft, Sony?), if I was starving, I'd work for Foxconn too. |

i have the max out Alienware M17x, paid around 4k for the setup but no SSD since i need storage space. build quaity is really solid but the screen color calibration suck -__-
pretty decent battery for a laptop that heavy setup I got a dig bick,.....
you that read wrong. that awkward when you read that wrong too. And said "moment" after awkward. this is awkward.. |

Always like the form factor of these machines, but $649 seems a little steep for a i3/GTX 640 machine that wouldn't be robust enough as a gaming machine to play high end games, yet not as fast as standard desktop i7 machines that can be had for the same or better price....nice looking though!
Wish it was easier to upgrade the X51, but you are limited by what graphics cards and power supplies you can use. So even if you get a get a good deal on this machine, your upside is limited. But that's what you give up for the compact form factor. |
