this cam has a worse lens, and more rugged build quality. uses same sensor. this cam has slightly higher resolution. also only has 5x optical zoom vs like 30x on the s4500. optical zoom does not lower resolution like digital zoom does. so this means the s4500 can be used as a telphoto at really long focal lengths (like effective 600mm+)

this cam has a smaller lcd screen, but same number of dots, so screen is smaller, but image will look a bit better on it.

this cam comes with a rechargable battery, unlike the s4500 (uses AA). despite this, it shoots less photos per battery charge. this cam also weighs much less and is much more compact.
