I have been using one as a baby monitor since December, works great. I use Baby Monitor for IP Camera 1.8 by Tiny Solutions, LLC. Free download but $5 to add audio monitoring. $69 camera plus $5 audio in-app purchase is a bargain compared to retail baby video monitors, plus you can view it from pretty much anywhere once you set up a DynDNS.

I like the idea of splicing speaker wire into the power cord to extend the monitor from a power outlet, that gives me some ideas for outdoor mounting...

Oh and everyone warns about the blinking green light on the white model (which I bought, since I have white walls and molding and the camera is mounted on the wall just below the molding). On mine, the green light is visible if you are looking for it, but hardly noticeable, not at all like the user picturs on amazon. In fact the only bright light is the red power LED that faces the wall and gives off a red glow around the camera, but the green light is barely visible. There is a green "network activity" LED next to the power LED but this one can be turned off in the admin settings. Maybe it's just the way I have mine mounted up high on the ceiling but when I buy more I'm going to get white again, the green LED is a non-issue for me.
