550/500 read/write is pretty snappy, but I think a big selling point on these is the hardware encryption (if you don't need it, than you could get something just as fast for a bit less, like the crucial m4)

Because the 840 uses low-grade TLC NAND instead of a MLC.

where are the 840 deals? the 840 is just slightly less, i don't mind going for the 840 if it saves me some money. if i cant find a better deal, i just might have to buy this tonight or tomorrow
