Now that Amazon charges sales tax in my state, Newegg is a pretty good place to get this from, especially with ShopRunner. (Costco will charge ST as well.)

I intend to put this along my office desk computer, and use Crashplan to back up my home computer on to this (home and office are in separate locations). Anyone tried this backup scheme yet?

Has anybody checked, does Costco have this in stock in-store or is it online only? I'd rather pick it up than order online.

He probably meant how are you getting these $25 coupons. Most people don't mention coupons like that unless it's a coupon code or you have a link to one. You're response is like saying that you got your money from your pocket. I'm guessing either you do a lot of business with staples and/or have a business account with them. Most of us have to buy them from ebay these days for almost $10 (ever since ejunkie stopped selling them). The Staples deal is not so hot for me; by the time I add taxes to the sale price (I have to pay taxes at Staples) and the cost of the coupon, I might as well get it from Amazon. If you know of any multi-use Staples coupons, feel free to post them up.

Are yours the 7200 DX model or the 5900 RPM model? Can you confirm if the packaging showed Windows 7 or Windows 8? My costco has both but I want to make sure the Windows 7 packages are the 7200 RPM models. There was an earliest post stating the windows 7 package had the 7200 RPM drives but the boxes I saw didn't match the part number listed. At my Costco both win 7/8 boxes had the same part number in the back.

Short of buying two drives you can use my method. Just keep a text file with the names of everything on the drive. Be sure to keep this on a separate drive. That way in the event of drive failure you at least know what you lost. Obviously you should only do this with movies and tv shows that can be easily replaced.

An easier way is to simply use a drive indexer to generate that list for you.
