Anyone else think that all these drives should have a minimum of a 3 year warranty. Spending a lot of money and having a drive like this go bad after 2 years kind of sucks to think about.

Yeah it only does 4K in 15fps. I know that seems pretty low fps these days. I mostly shoot the time-lapse stuff every .5 or 1 sec 5MP pics. When I go on trips, I am usually dumping about 80-100GB of media.
I do admit I have ripped music and blu-ray HD movies on it too. |

The truth: Management at IRS can blame themselves and how they have chaotic and poor management, but God-forbid you, or I, or anybody else in America gets audited and doesn't have their ducks in order and s***-together, your ass is going to court or jail.

But if we gut external drives, wouldn't that void the warranty? I make videos.

I've got a bunch of DVDs ripped to VOBs that I currently watch on my 24" PC monitor using Windows Media Center, and it's like watching the original DVD, with menus, special features, audio settings, etc. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to watch these movies on a separate TV using one of these devices, networked to my HTPC, such that I can watch them as I do on my HTPC, with menus, etc. Any recommendations? I know that you can play individual VOB files on the WD Live, but w/o menus, making it a pain to jump ahead, skip chapters, etc. |

It looks like the price on these are trending downward. I wouldn't be surprised if these end up being sold for something like $99-$129 for BF2013. ![]()

In any case, some people might need the extra TB to keep all their files on one drive. Myself, I have one very large collection of TV recordings I've made over the years that has now exceeded 3TB, and can definitely use one of these drives. I'm going to wait till they get down to the $120 level though, probably later this year. |
