southwest soon will be flying there. They're buying Airtran that recently started flying from Stockton to Hawaii. When things are complete Southwest will be taking over the hawaii routes.

Wow...that's an awesome price. Cheapest I've seen lately from the WEST coast is $330.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the cheapest places to stay in Honolulu? I'm trying to fit this vacation on a budget- thanks!

Cheap and Hawaii do not mix. As others have noted, the airfare is just the beginning. A decent place to stay anywhere near the water? Big $$$. (Heck, a decent place to stay anywhere is expensive). A car rental? $$$. Food? $$$.

It's like a trip to NYC, but worse in every way. At least in NYC you can legitimately stick to public xport and walking, and you can use Priceline to nab a decent hotel at a decent price.

It's very hard to stay anywhere in the islands and keep your costs low, unless your experience is such that I would question why you want to be in Hawaii in the first place.

And don't forget to check your luggage for roach stowaways when you get home--even if you do stay in good places.
